Radii Solaris in the Iris
When I first started in private practice over 35 years ago, the first thing to do, as a naturopath, was to assess and/or identify through iridology the state of a person’s gut/digestive system. One of Naturopathy’s first principles is that most health issues stem from gut and digestive problems. Long before this was supported by modern scientific research Naturopaths knew about the importance of good gut flora and the state of the ‘gut lining’ and its effect on our overall health. Naturopaths believe that if we create the right gut environment then the health inducing gut flora – as unique to the individual as their fingerprint! – will re-generate and thrive.
One very important indication in the iris to look for is the presence of what are called radii solaris in the zones directly around and radiating outwards from the pupil (above pic) – these zones represent the stomach and intestines (gut) respectively. They indicate a tendency towards digestive toxicity and Leaky Gut syndrome where unwanted substances may enter the blood through the intestinal walls. Hence, they begin to affect the organs and tissues into which they radiate – if radiating into the upper regions of the iris, they can be responsible for headaches/migraines, sinus problems, lack of mental vitality or a strong tendency to worry and even depression; or if radiating into the lower regions of the iris, for instance, they can affect the reproductive organs and create menstrual associated problems.
In my practice the radii solaris are treated Naturopathically, their impact is minimised, and the integrity of the gut lining is improved dramatically. Much better health and well-being results.
