Stillness Meditation Therapy
Stillness Meditation Therapy (SMT) is the authentic meditation originated by Dr Ainslie Meares to enable his patients to relieve anxiety, stress and pain, and gain wider health benefits. In traditional meditations, various techniques are employed whereas SMT is characterised by ABSENCE OF TECHNIQUE – no music, no chanting, no visualisation, no breath techniques and no focusing or rituals (other than your own). Anything that may stimulate the mind is avoided which is so crucial for the often ‘overstimulated’ HSP. SMT is an effortless experience where people return to a natural state of being and the mind is at rest. This leads to an absence of disturbance within the mind, where it does not register discomfort or emotion of any kind – a profound state of rest is achieved in which the mind’s own powers of healing can be activated. When SMT is learned correctly and practiced regularly, outcomes include less anxiety, less stress and relief of associated symptoms – including depression – leading to a more fulfilling and rewarding life.
I have found SMT the most effective, and importantly, the quickest meditation experience for HSP’s to calm an over-stimulated state of mind. Through regular practice the peace and calm experienced during stillness meditation will spread throughout the rest of your life.
